		<description>Glad to see that they're going forward with recommending that.  In all honesty, I feel that amount is still a couple k below what it should be for southern california, particularly with the big rent hike on campus for next year.  But on the other hand, I know there are departments that fall well below their recommendation.  For Caltech to remain competitive, we've got to offer decent money that takes into account the cost of living.  If it comes down to picking either the #1 school or picking the #5 school and being able to pay off student loans a couple years sooner, then there are a lot of good students that will pass up Caltech.</description>
